Our Mission

Our estate is managed with a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and regenerative agriculture. Water conservation is a priority: we’ve installed large rainwater harvesting tanks and use efficient drip irrigation systems to minimise waste. The land is cultivated without tillage, relying instead on augers for planting to preserve soil structure and biodiversity.

We produce mulches from fallen timber on-site to attract beneficial insects such as ladybirds and rove or carabid beetles, which naturally control vine weevils. Compost is made in-house using materials sourced locally, including sawdust and bark supplied through a partnership with a nearby timber yard. Swale beds, ditches, and berms with overflow systems have been established to manage water, prevent erosion, and create rich microclimates.

Chemical pesticides are avoided. Instead, we encourage natural predators and use biological controls such as nematodes. Wildlife corridors of two metres between rows reduce water runoff and promote ecological diversity. Three ponds - including leaky ponds - capture runoff, recharge groundwater, and provide habitats for dragonflies, frogs, and toads, all of which help control pest populations.

Dedicated insect log havens and mulch beds support ladybirds, toads, and frogs that feed on aphids, scale insects, and weevils. Over 1,000 native trees have been planted to provide shade, wind protection, soil stability, and habitats for wildlife. A small orchard and Manuka bushes have been planted for our bees.
